DE PERE (NBC 26) — While many packers fans are thrilled to have Aaron Rodgers back, Mr Brews Taphouse is saying ‘thanks’ in a savory way.
“We feel like the packers and Mr Brews Taphouse definitely go together like burgers and beer," said Carrie Martin, Vice President of operations for Mr Brews.
The restaurant made its first offer to Rodgers in April, announcing it would treat the quarterback to free burgers and beer for life if he would return to the Packers and finish out his NFL career in Green and Gold.
“When we first heard the rumor, we knew we couldn’t be at the contract negotiations," said Martin. "But we did know that we have the best gourmet burgers and craft beer selection in Wisconsin, so we decided we’re going to offer that to Aaron and Shailene for free for life.“
Now that he’s back in Green Bay, the restaurant is staying true to its word.
“Being from Wisconsin, everyone’s a Packer fan," said Jason Mackie General Manager of Mr Brews. "So we’re very passionate about the Packers, we all know Aaron Rodgers is our best chance to win a super bowl again this year, so we put it out there. If he comes in, that be great.”
With ten locations in the state Rodgers can choose from, the restaurant just wants the quarterback to feel welcomed.
“It’s important to be a true fan of the Packers no matter who’s going to be there," said Mackie. "But we’ve always wanted him to be here. He’s creating a legacy in Green Bay. We want to see that legacy end on a positive note, and let’s get a street named after him too.“
