BROWN COUNTY, Wis. — More than 30 dogs have been rescued from what the Wisconsin Humane Society is calling "deplorable conditions."

Angela Speed, Vice President of Communications says staff from the Wisconsin Humane Society of Green Bay and Door County campuses assisted law enforcement in the seizure of more than 30 dogs, as well as a parrot, from a single residence in Brown County.

"Our staff worked swiftly to remove the animals from deplorable conditions and brought them to the WHS Green Bay Campus," Speed told NBC26 in an email.

Right now, Speed says the dogs are safe and being well-cared for at the shelter.

"We are grateful to the community for the support that makes it possible for us to say 'yes' when we're called to help animals in dire need," Speed writes. She says the animals are currently considered 'seized' at this time so adoption can not be pursued unless they are surrendered or the case works through legal process.

If the public wants to help, representatives say monetary donations are the highest need in seizure cases to offset the cost of medical care. Dog toys and treats also go a long way.

We are told more details will be available soon. At this time, Humane Society representatives say they are focused on assisting law enforcement to keep the animals safe.
