MISHICOT (NBC 26) — A man is in jail after a nearly 4-hour-long standoff with Manitowoc County authorities.
The Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded at about 4:45 p.m. Sunday to the 400 block of East Main Street, Mishicot for a disturbance. The Sheriff's Office said the "predominant aggressor" had a knife.
The sheriff's office said three people were able to get out, but the suspect, 40-year-old Derek Kielkopf from Mishicot refused to leave. According to the Sheriff's Office, the Manitowoc County SWAT team responded and was able to take Kielkopf into custody at about 8:30 p.m.
Authorities took Kielkopf to the Manitowoc County Jail for domestic violence related disorderly conduct, battery, recklessly endangering safety and a probation hold.
The three people who left the home, all identified as adults in their 20s, were taken to Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers to be evaluated for minor injuries.
