GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- In spirit of excitement for Sunday’s Packers playoff game with the Seahawks, Green Bay’s Mayor, Eric Genrich, has issued a challenge to Mayor Jenny Durkan of Seattle.

Genrich’s office said Seattle’s mayor has accepted a challenge in which both sides will engage in volunteer opportunities in their respective communities, but will do so while wearing the winning team’s colors. The two mayors will also exchange gifts.

“In the unlikely event Seattle wins Sunday’s game,” a statement from the Green Bay Mayor’s office said, “Mayor Genrich will send beer from Stillmank Brewing, cheese curds from Ron’s Wisconsin Cheese, and coffee from La Java Roasting House to Mayor Durkan.”

The Win-Win Challenge, as it is called, encourages both playoff communities to give back through community service. Following the outcome of the January 12th game, City of Green Bay and Community Foundation employees will volunteer at Paul’s Pantry, the mayor’s office states. Mayor Durkan in Seattle will volunteer as part of the MLK Day of Service.
