APPLETON (NBC 26) — The 33rd annual MASH Blood Drive is underway Wednesday at the Fox Cities Exhibition Center.
Located at 355 W. Lawrence Street in Appleton, the drive began at 7 a.m. and runs until 6 p.m. The Community Blood Center is partnering with AMVETS Post 30 in Greenville. For every unit of blood received, CBC will make a monetary donation to the organization.
The CBC also says various community members and organizations, including AMVETS and the Army National Guard, will have military items displayed throughout the event.
All presenting donors will receive an exclusive 2021 MASH T-shirt and lunch/refreshments.
The 2021 MASH blood drive comes at a time when blood donations are critical. CBC is calling upon donors of all blood types to schedule a donation. Blood donation becomes more challenging in summer because of busy schedules and vacations.
In addition, the CBC says recreational traumas and injuries often increase during the summer months. CBC has seen an increased need for blood locally so far this summer.
The theme MASH was chosen at the inaugural event in 1989 because of the television show “M*A*S*H.”
All healthy and eligible donors are encouraged to schedule a donation at communityblood.org/mash or call 800-280-4102.
