MARINETTE COUNTY (NBC 26) — An 83-year-old woman died at a Madison hospital after being seriously injured in a Thursday morning crash, the Marinette County Sheriff said in a statement Sunday.
Early Thursday morning, at around 3:45 a.m., authorities responded to a crash reported on County Highway B near Jandt Road in the Town of Grover. A vehicle was found in the north ditch and had struck several trees, the Sheriff's statement said.
The Sheriff said it appeared the vehicle was eastbound in the fog and failed to negotiate the curve. The victim was alone in the vehicle.
The Sheriff's statement identified the victim as 83-year-old Loretta Patz from Coleman, Wisconsin. The Sheriff says the Marinette County Medical Examiner was notified Saturday of her death at the hospital.
The crash is still being investigated. The Sheriff says this is the 7th traffic fatality in Marinette this year.
