GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- There is a reason for celebration as March 21st is recognized as World Down Syndrome Day.
Down syndrome is caused by three copies of the 21st chromosome, so it's fitting to raise awareness on 3/21 (March 21).
Locally, Down Syndrom Association of Wisconsin (DSAW) Green Bay is a non-profit that supports 300 people with Down syndrome in Brown and surrounding counties.
While DSAW-Green Bay were supposed to be celebrating their 30th Anniversary Extrava-Gala, they're celebrating with everyone at a distance.
The organization says you can wear mismatch socks and post a picture to social media.
You can support DSAW with a donation at DSAW.org/Donate or join them in September for their largest fundraiser of the year for the Down Syndrome Awareness Walk.
