GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- A man's body has been found in the East River in Green Bay after police searched for several hours.
Crews discovered the body near Main St. and Roosevelt Ave. Sunday afternoon.
Police say the man went missing back in February, but ice conditions prevented them from going in the water to find the missing man. With ice being melted, they finally found him.
"We were sonaring the river. Our full dive team came out around 10:30, 11 o'clock and we've been diving 11, 11:30," said Steve Mahoney, a member of the Green Bay Police Dive Team. "Approximately 2:30 or 2:15 is when we located the male."
Police did not release the name of the man who was found. They are waiting for an autopsy to be done, which is scheduled within the week.
While police have not confirmed the man's identity, last month 24-year-old Jeffrey Maldonado was reported missing.
On February 8, Maldonado performed at Club 9-20 on Main St. in Green Bay.
Just down the street, at the corner of Main and Roosevelt, police say a man fell into the ice on the East River the same night Maldonado went missing.
