Man in custody following standoff with police in Manitowoc

MANITOWOC (NBC 26) — A man is in custody after a SWAT team responded to an incident Sunday afternoon at a Manitowoc home.

Officers received a call around 4 p.m. Sunday to the 1200 block of S. 17th Street for a report of a man armed with a handgun inside of his garage, according to the Manitowoc Police Department.

While responding, police were told the man left his garage and was shooting the handgun in the front yard. Officers tried to communicate with the man, but weren't successful.

Members with the Manitowoc County SWAT team were called in with their armored vehicle and took the suspect into custody without incident.

Police said there are no reported victims and no rounds were discharged at any homes or people in the area.
