Man facing criminal charge after accidental shooting in Sheboygan

SHEBOYGAN — Police said one man is facing a criminal charge following an accidental shooting this weekend.

According to the Sheboygan Police Department, at around 8:50 p.m. Saturday, an 18-year-old Sheboygan Falls man arrived at a local ER with a gunshot wound to the pelvic region.

Police said the victim was with his friend, a 21-year-old Sheboygan man, at a home in the 900 block of New York Avenue. According to police, the 21-year-old had recently purchased a handgun and was manipulating it when he accidentally shot his friend. The 18-year-old had non-life-threatening injuries as a result.

Police said the 21-year-old man was referred to the Sheboygan County District Attorney's Office for a charge of second degree recklessly endangering safety and was transported to jail.
