Man dies in Manitowoc County crash Monday

MANITOWOC COUNTY (NBC 26) — The Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal crash that happened Monday.

The sheriff's office said deputies and EMS responded at about 7:43 a.m. Monday to a two vehicle crash on Highway 10 at Highway P/Homestead Road in the town of Manitowoc Rapids.

According to the sheriff's office, the preliminary investigation indicates 68-year-old Daniel Faken from rural Manitowoc was driving a 2017 Kenworth quad-axel milk truck east on Highway 10. The sheriff's office said 86-year-old John Konop from Manitowoc was driving a 2018 Lexus SUV north on Highway P/Homestead Road.

The SUV entered the intersection and was struck by the milk truck, the sheriff's office said. Konop sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Faken was not injured.

The Manitowoc County Coroner's Office indicated the preliminary cause of death was blunt force trauma. No further information is being released at this time as the crash remains under investigation.
