FOND DU LAC, Wis. (NBC 26) - A man was taken into custody Monday night after he led police on a high-speed chase that began on Interstate 41.

It started when police attempted to stop a vehicle for a speed violation, but the driver did not slow down or stop, and exited the interstate onto Highway 141. When police attempted to set up tire deflation devices, the driver exited onto Highway 23 and ended up traveling westbound in the eastbound lane, towards the city of Fond du Lac.

City of Fond du Lac Police set up near National Ave. with tire deflation devices. The vehicle stopped after passing that area, and officers observed the vehicle had two flat tires. It's unknown if the flat tires were caused by the tire deflation devices or erratic driving.

The driver of the vehicle, a 24-year-old Milwaukee man, was taken into custody without incident. He was the only occupant of the vehicle.

The man is being held on charges of Fleeing/Eluding an Officer, First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, multiple drug related charges and was issued multiple traffic citations.
