LITTLE CHUTE (NBC 26) — UPDATE: Fox Valley Metro Police Department released the following statement:
On Friday, Oct. 8, at approximately 2:17 p.m., Officers from the Fox Valley Metro Police Department responded to Little Chute High School, 1402 Freedom Road, for a suspicious person complaint.
It was reported by an anonymous source that an unknown person had placed packages around the Little Chute school facility at 1402 Freedom Road just prior to school releasing for the day. Additionally, an anonymous caller phoned the Fox Valley Metro Police Department and reported there may be an act of violence at the school complex upon release.
Law enforcement responded to Little Chute school facilities and performed a rapid assessment. After conferring with LCASD administration, students were placed in a secure hold of Little Chute High School, Little Middle School, Little Intermediate School, Flex Academy and LCCPA. Out of precaution, Little Chute Elementary School was also placed into a secure hold.
Law enforcement conducted a thorough search of the school property and did not locate any suspicious packages or persons of interest. Working with school district administration, students were released in a safe manner.
The Fox Valley Metro Police Department was assisted by the Wisconsin DNR, Appleton Police Department, the Brown / Outagamie County Bomb Squad, Outagamie County Sheriff’s Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Grand Chute Police Department, Kaukauna Police Department, and the Little Chute Fire Department.

UPDATE: Streets were reopened around 4 p.m. as a police presence started to clear.
A major police presence responded to Little Chute High School on Friday afternoon.
Families received this note:
Due to a suspicious phone call we received, our IM/MS/HS building is currently on a secure hold. We have a police presence to help assist with verifying the safety of our staff and students and are proceeding with abundant caution. The parking lot is currently blocked off and parents are not welcome on our school ground per law enforcement. At this time, to help keep the outside of the building clear we ask parents to utilize the side streets until the hold has been lifted. There will be a delay of dismissal.
Per law enforcement, the elementary will not be discussed at this time.
An NBC 26 photographer said nearby roads were blocked off while several officers, including a bomb squad, was outside the school.
