APPLETON (NBC 26) — At Niemuth's Southside Market, the line of customers was a big longer than normal Thursday.
"We've had a busy day, a busy week," Richard Niemuth said.
Behind the counter, Niemuth saw his regulars buying a little more than normal.
"More items than what they have in the past, but they're not claiming to be stocking up for the apocalypse," he said.
Niemuth said customers filled up on steaks, seafoods, and other meats. Business has been good. Elsewhere, business appears to be booming.
"I never saw so many people in Costco at one time, even at Christmas," shopper Kim Hakenjos said.
Hakenjos shopped at the Bellevue Costco on Tuesday and saw carts full of toilet paper and water and shelves empty.
"there were people who work at costco directing people to which line to go in," she said. "I kid you not it was nonstop."
Clearly, Coronavirus is on people's minds. Niemuth hopes if it gets worse that people remember the little guy.
"Don't forget us," he said. "We need you even more than the big guys do."
