A summertime transformation at Valley Christian School in Oshkosh means that, during EAA, a place for learning also becomes a place for lodging.
Cots are brought into classrooms at the school, which will host up to 100 people per night.
"We could make between $30- and $40,000 for the week, on average," said Carey Holtz, the fundraising coordinator for Valley Christian School.
The money goes to pay the school's general bills, which in turn helps lower tuition rates for students who attend the school.
The school's lodging has sold out for 2022; rates started at about $60 per night.
The Valley Christian lodging option began more than 20 years ago when a secretary had the idea, Holtz said.
Lodging during EAA is also available in dorm rooms on the campus of Marian University.
The private university in Fond du Lac offers dorm rooms for about $90 per night.
"[The] cafeteria's open, you get that dorm-style living," said Jason Bartelt, vice president for enrollment management at Marian. The University also rents out apartments during EAA.
The main impact of offering EAA lodging is promotional, instead of financial, said Bartelt.
"... [I]t's getting us, our name out there, attracting potentially new students, their parents coming to campus," said Bartelt.
Ripon College offers EAA lodging for approximately $60 per night; UW-Oshkosh also offers lodging during the event for $75 per night.
