NEENAH (NBC 26) — Local volunteers were busy Tuesday putting smiles on the faces of children.
The non-profit group Jake’s Network of Hope is working to distribute toys to 10,000 local children affected by COVID as part of the group’s “Unplug and Play” campaign. Organizers have a goal to distribute 20,000 toys to 10,000 children.
The organization’s first big toy distribution day took place Tuesday. Organizers also have distributions planned later in the month of June.
Jake's Network of Hope operates as a basic needs bank providing non-food essentials that families need to survive and thrive. The organization distributes these items through trusted non-profit partners to help empower people out of poverty to self-sufficiency.
Stephanie Bowers, the Executive Director of Jake's Network of Hope, says they are working with more than 30 non-profit partners to make sure that the kids that need them the most get them. Some of the partners picked up toys last week. Bowers says that means some kids are already getting toys now.
If you need assistance, Bowers says the best way to get help directly is to call 211, which will connect you to the closest non-profits to help provide you with necessary resources.
