GREEN BAY, Wis. (NBC 26) -- Local businesses are watching the latest developments with the coronavirus to try to decide what's best for their customers and employees.

NBC 26 talked with Wisconsin Public Service and Green Bay Insurance Center. Matt Cullen with WPS said they're closely monitoring the spread of the virus to better understand the impact, if any, it could have on the communities WPS serves and its employees.

Cullen said right now, they're encouraging what the CDC is advising when it comes to avoiding travel to high risk places like China, Iran, Italy, and South Korea. He said numerous employees could work from home if and when it is necessary, and they're encouraging employees to take steps and precautions to stay healthy like recovering at home if needed and washing hands often.

Green Bay Insurance Center is also encouraging good hygiene. Chad Heath, the director of operations, said their clients are always their priority.

"We have a pretty good process in place that if a client were to call us, after hours anyway, we would have a live voice that would be able to talk them through certain situations," added Heath.

He also said this would allow them to answer clients' questions even if the office was closed due to the virus.

Both businesses, as well as others in the community, said they will continue to keep a close eye on any new developments.
