GREEN BAY (WGBA) -- It's an area undergoing many changes. This year, the Olde Main district will welcome two new apartment complexes. A move that is expected to bring new people closer to downtown.

For Bill Macier, the longtime owner of The Attic coffee shop, he sees it as a opportunity for businesses to grow.

"We are seeing developers look a long time vacant buildings saying 'hey I can do something with that.' It's different," Macier said.

Macier has owned his coffee shop for 14 years and has seen much change over that time span. He says the renovation of Whitney Park has attracted developers to the area.

However, the changes aren't cheap. Those wanting to live in a new place will be spending at least $1000 a month. Mayor Erich Genrich hopes that changes. He says the city is working with developers for a new affordable housing complex - where prices would cater to those making less than $40,000 annually. However, that plan is not finalized.

Macier doesn't see an issue with the area's affluence. He says it should help the local economy.

"It is upscale yes," Macier said. "But I don't see it remaining upscale."
