APPLETON, Wis (NBC 26) -- On Wednesday students and staff at Lawrence University in Appleton were preparing to kick off their fall semester which starts next week.
Mark Burstein, Lawrence University's President says all students and staff returning to campus will be getting a COVID-19 test which will be followed up 14-days later with another test. Burstein adds that every week throughout the semester nearly 20 percent of faculty and students will be tested randomly for COVID-19 as well which is all a part of a pledge that students and faculty made to protect their community.
"We really have faith in our community that folks will, once they understand the context and the consequences, that they will really be able to conform with the rules and make sure we all stay healthy."
Masks indoors will also be a requirement at Lawrence University. This fall semester Burstein estimates about 60-percent of the student body is anticipated to show up for in-person classes which begin next week.
