GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — A large power outage affected much of Green Bay's west side Friday afternoon as well as Howard, Ashwaubenon, and Hobart, according to Green Bay Police.

A spokesperson for WPS said power was restored shortly after 2:30 p.m. to all Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) customers affected by an issue with transmission equipment owned by American Transmission Company in Green Bay. The issue impacted WPS’ electric distribution system, causing outages for some WPS customers for about 45 minutes.

A statement from American Transmission Co. says the company's power line in the Green Bay area sustained an outage Friday at 1:56 p.m. Power was restored to the ATC transmission line at 2:39 p.m. The cause of the outage is not yet known and ATC is conducting an investigation.

Green Bay Police says traffic lights were out Friday afternoon. The Green Bay Police Department is reminding all drivers that inoperable traffic lights at intersections are to be treated the same as a 4-way stop sign.
