NEW LONDON, Wis. — The lake sturgeon spawning run has begun on the Wolf River.
The DNR said fish were spawning at the Sturgeon Trail in New London on Monday.
Officials said there were cruising males observed along the rocks at a number of sites including below the Manawa Dam, Bamboo Bend and some private properties along the Wolf River.
DNR officials warn not to wait to get out and see the spawning activity because water levels are extremely high this spring.
This could impact how close spectators can get to the river and how visible the fish are.
