MANITOWOC COUNTY (NBC 26) — A Kimberly woman died Saturday after a crash in Manitowoc County, authorities say.
According to the Manitowoc County Sheriff, at around 4:03 pm, deputies and EMS personnel responded to a two-vehicle crash at STH 42 and CTH VV in the Town of Two Rivers.
The Sheriff's statement said 31-year-old Kristen R. VanDeVoort of Kimberly was driving a 2010 Chevy Impala eastbound on CTH VV. The Sheriff's statement said the vehicle failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection with STH 42 and was struck by a southbound 2019 Dodge Ram 2500 operated by a 71-year-old George Dearborn of Appleton.
Authorities say VanDeVoort was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers, a 7-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl, were trapped in the vehicle and extricated by firefighters. Both children had severe life-threatening injuries and were flown to St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.
Dearborn and his passenger both sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Holy Family Hospital in Manitowoc.
The Sheriff said this crash remains under investigation.
