KIEL (NBC 26) — At around 1:48 p.m. Saturday, the Kiel Fire Department was sent to 22414 County Road XX in the Town of Schleswig for a report of a grass fire in a ditch line near a residence. Upon arrival, fire crews saw approximately a mile-long section of a ditch line on fire.
Due to the size of the incident, the fire department said Mutual Aid Box Alarm (MABAS) Card 6-1-4 was activated, which brought additional resources to the scene. The fire was deemed under control and contained within twenty minutes of arriving on the scene.
No one was hurt, the fire department said.
The Kiel Fire Department and Ambulance Service received assistance from the Manitowoc County Joint Dispatch Center, Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, New Holstein Fire Department, and St. Nazianz Fire Department.
