BROWN COUNTY (NBC 26) -- The man charged with killing his ex-girlfriend and her mother was found guilty Wednesday.
A jury returned that verdict against Jacob Cayer for two counts of first-degree intentional homicide for the 2016 deaths of Sabrina and Sunny Teague at their Hobart home..
Earlier in the day, Cayer took the stand for testimony. Cayer said he did not kill the two women or injure his ex-girlfriend's boyfriend. He told the court there's 27 hours missing from his memory, from shortly after he left his home on his bicycle, to waking up in the hospital covered in blood, and not knowing what happened.
Brown County District Attorney David Lasee said during rebuttal that the idea Cayer was abducted and drug through a crime scene is absurd. Lasee said wild, unsupported conspiracy theories have no place in the courtroom.
The trial will continue after the verdict. Next, a jury will have to decide is Cayer can be held responsible for the killings based on his mental capacity and condition. That portion begins Thursday.
