GREEN BAY, Wis. (NBC 26) From giving away one million dollars in a one-of-a-kind lottery in Ohio to tropical vacations and free cruise sweepstakes sprouting up, getting incentives for being vaccinated are just about everywhere including in Wisconsin.

Many likely won't experience instant gratification after getting vaccinated. But, throw some baseball tickets in for a Timber Rattlers game, and both fans and public health leaders are smiling.

"We really wanted to think outside of the box to see if we could motivate some of those individuals that really need that carrot to get the effect of that vaccine," said Natalie Vandevelt, the Public Health Officer at Outagamie County Public Health.

Vandavelt says she isn't surprised that businesses across Wisconsin are following suit of the Timber Rattlers, adding that the incentives to get vaccinated go beyond the obvious perks.

"The most important point is they are effective at preventing spread and protection from getting sick," said Vandevelt.

And if you're one of the many who has been vaccinated, or plan on doing so soon, you might be able to capitalize on some of the incentives across Wisconsin.

"They just have to bring in their CDC card so we can verify they did actually complete their vaccination," said Josh Haas, a Pharmacist at Meijer in Kenosha.

Haas, along with pharmacists at all Meijer locations, is giving 10 dollar vouchers to folks who complete their vaccination on-site, Additionally, if you are already vaccinated, Meijer is offering 10 dollars off a purchase when you spend 50 bucks.

"The response has been pretty good so far. Lots of people bringing in their cards showing that they have gotten their vaccines completed elsewhere. Then anyone who gets it done here just walks out with it right after I give them the shot," added Haas.

This is the newest trend in trying to stop the spread of COVID-19, and health care professionals seem to be on board with the clever ideas.

"It's good for them, it helps the community, it helps everybody," said Haas.

"The incentives are a good idea. I think it does motivate some people," added Vandevelt.
