APPLETON (NBC 26) — The Fox Cities are playing host to a new music festival.

The inaugural Irish Fest of the Fox Cities is being held Friday and Saturday at Jones Park in downtown Appleton. This is one of the first events at the downtown park and new amphitheater, which was built and donated by Miron Construction in 2019.

"What we’re going to attempt to do is provide everyone with a true taste of what Ireland is about," said Brian Pierce, planning committee board of directors for the Irish Festival. "We’re going to have over 20 different performers, 3 different Irish dance groups as well as a culture center all within a 2-block radius."

Irish Fest will celebrate everything Irish and Celtic in nature: such as the rich culture, lively music, scrumptious food, children's activities and Gaelic sports.

"I think anyone who comes to the Irish Festival for the first time will experience just great Irish music, but also great musicians, instrumentals, and some incredible dancers as well," Pierce said.
