Man dies in crash after failing to yield in Marinette County

MARINETTE COUNTY (NBC 26) — An 85-year-old man from Wallace, Michigan was involved in a two-vehicle fatal crash after failing to yield the right-of-way from a stop sign.

The Marinette County Sheriff's Office reports the crash happened Wednesday at 10:42 a.m. on CTH X at Old Rail Road in the Town of Wagner.

After an initial investigation, it was indicated that a vehicle operated by the 85-year-old was traveling southbound on Old Rail Road when it failed to yield the right-of-way from a stop sign. It entered the intersection and was struck by an eastbound pick-up truck.

The Michigan man was not wearing his seatbelt, he was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining fatal injuries.

The operator and passenger of the pick-up truck were both wearing seatbelts. The driver was transported to Aurora Bay Area Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries, the passenger was uninjured.

An investigation into this incident is being continued by the Marinette County Sheriff's Office.
