Wisconsin Public Service says it's working to restore power following the ice storm from Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.
The storm moved across northern Wisconsin and into Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, damaging trees and pulling down power lines.
The WPS outage map showed thousands of customers were without service as of early Wednesday evening. On Friday, WPS said crews have restored power to more than 108,000 customers.
According to WPS, more than 300 workers have finished repairing WPS’ main lines. These crews are now restoring service to smaller outages and individual customers. WPS is focusing on restoring service to customers who have experienced the longest outages.
WPS also said its crews are dealing with tree limbs on its equipment, downed power lines and even broken utility poles. In total, more than 1,000 of these hazards have been reported since early Wednesday morning.
WPS expects 98% of all customers affected by this week’s storm will have service restored by the end of the day Friday.
