ASHWAUBENON (NBC 26) — Some people say they feel uneasy following a deadly shooting in an Ashwaubenon neighborhood.

Police found two people dead in a garage in the 2300 block of Cedar Ridge Road after they responded to a welfare check and heard shots fired Thursday morning. Police said they heard a scuffle in the garage and heard multiple shots fired.

“I’ve actually always felt safe here too and now it’s just, you never know now. You never know who people are or what they’re capable of," said one woman who lives close to where the incident occurred and wished to remain anonymous.

She said she was at home with her daughter when police and a SWAT team swarmed the duplex. Not long after, she said she received a text message with a shelter-in-place alert.

“I was definitely scared, because we had to go hide in the basement and my daughter who was only three didn’t really know what was going on," she said. "So she was scared. It’s definitely scary knowing that something like this can happen right across the street from you.”

Other neighbors said they've lived in the neighborhood for over a decade, and said they've always felt safe. After the shooting, many said they feel they need to be more cautious moving forward.

Police haven't released the names of the deceased at this time.
