GREEN BAY (NBC26) — The Howe Community Resource Center in partnership with Leadership Green Bayopened a hygiene pantry Tuesday that is open to all Brown County social workers. The pantry will provide hygiene products to Brown County students and their families.
Executive Director of the Howe Community Resource Center Amanda Johnson says during the pandemic, the center realized there was a high demand for hygiene products among the community.
"Throughout the pandemic, we did things like clothing drives, we had some hygiene handouts, and at those hygiene handouts we passed out hygiene items to over 400 cars each," Johnson said.
That's when Leadership Green Bay approached the center and the two came up with the idea of a "hygiene hub".
"Because FoodShare does not cover hygiene supplies, thinking about already having a limited budget, what are the things that need to be cut? Hygiene products certainly could be one of those things," said Jenny Tic, a member of the Green Bay Leadership team that partnered with the center.
The center is open to social workers throughout Brown County and the students they serve. The center collects products such as soap, deodorant, hair care products and cleaning supplies.
You can drop off donated supplies at the center or donate to the hygiene hub at the Howe Community Resource Center website.
