OMRO, Wis. (NBC26) -- Hundreds of people piled together, with candles lit in their hands -- each one of them impacted by two young siblings.

"They’ll be dearly missed by everyone," said close family friend Drew Wright. "I mean, just look at how many people showed up tonight. Everyone knows them. He was a great guy. And so was she."

Community members gathered at Omro High School to honor Domynick and Danycka Milis, who were tragically killed in a car crash while vacationing in Florida on Tuesday night. Each attendee had their own story to share.

"She’s impacted so many people, and I’m glad that she’s being taken care of," Bobbi Allison, a close friend of Danycka, said. "She was like an older sister to me so I’m just very proud of her, like everything she’s accomplished."

"They kind of helped start a legacy of giving back," Wright said about the brother and sister.

Wright was Domynick's former college roommate. Losing his good friend of just 21 years old has left an empty feeling.

"Year 'round, we were seeing each other all day at school, every day at practice, every [cross country] meet," Wright said. "Then we... ended up going to college with the guy. It’s just... the past ten years, I feel like I’ve seen him almost every day of my life."

But the two siblings, wise beyond their years, taught the community valuable lessons.

"Dom and Danycka both were two of the most committed people I know, whether it be to their family or their friends or whatever task they were trying to do," said close friend Jacob Lautenschlager. "So honestly, the one thing they impacted me with is to be able to use that commitment in my own life."

And close friends say Domynick and 18-year-old Danycka Milis were leaders in the community.

"Dom was a runner," Wright said. "He started a running club and he came back and he coached the middle school cross country team this last summer. I know Danycka helped out a lot with the girls team too. They kind of just started almost like… you give back to what you took from, which I think is really important."

But for those at Thursday’s vigil, the brother-sister duo found a way to bring the community together in celebration.

"That just symbolizes him [Domynick] that he’s gonna go and try to make someone else’s day better and doesn’t have to think twice about it," Wright said.

"She [Danycka] was wonderful," Allison said. "Just like a strong, beautiful woman."

A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family.
