SHEBOYGAN COUNTY (NBC 26) -- Five people were arrested following an undercover operation investigating human trafficking, the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.
Five people face charges for prostitution, possessing child pornography, theft and drugs.
Authorities said the suspects were identified by investigators using popular publicly available websites that have been specifically generated for the purpose of arranging sexual encounters in exchange for money.
The sheriff's office also said authorities connected community resources to the prostitutes who are at higher risk of human trafficking, domestic violence and physical assaults, among many other life changing outcomes.
The sheriff's office said it worked with Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigations, Plymouth Police Department, Sheboygan Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol and the Sheboygan County District Attorney’s Office on this case.
