ASHWAUBENON (WGBA) - Veterans and star players for the Green Bay Packers got together Tuesday for a day full of fun activities.

The event is called "Huddle for Heroes." It brought local veterans to meet players like Aaron Rodgers.

"it's nice to be able to talk to these guys as human beings and not just somebody you see on a screen," said Joe Benny, who served in the Army. "We can just sit and talk about stuff like motorcycles and different experiences each one of us has had."

It's the first time the Packers are hosting an event like this. It was held at The Turn restaurant in Titletown. The veterans and players got to play some "top golf" simulators.

"It's an opportunity for players and veterans to get under one roof," said Ryan Fencl, outreach coordinator with the Packers. "Whether or not they are playing the games, or just talking different stories different experiences, everyone here has a different story."

The fun part for the veterans, came from just interacting with the athletes.

"It's good to see they do support veterans," Benny said. "A lot of them have veteran connections and it's just important for us to see that and share our appreciation to them."
