How coronavirus is affecting everyday life

ASHWAUBENON (NBC 26) — In a store full of Green Bay memorabilia and jerseys of number 12, there's one item leading the pack when it comes to sales at a store inside Austin Straubel Internationl Airport.

"We are down to our last hand sanitizer so i have noticed a lot more people buying that," Linda Peterson said.

Travelers at the airport have prepared for changes brought on by coronavirus.

"I would cancel any trip for vacation, anything that is non-essential, and basically, people have to live their lives but very cautious," traveler Micheline Hyacinthe said.

Outside of the airport, Northeast Wisconsin is taking caution. The Catholic diocese has recommended church's not serve wine at communion, and parishioners don't need to exchange physical signs of peace.

Elsewhere, the coronavirus is taking a financial toll. The stock market took a major hit on Monday, affecting investors and 401(k)s. Travelers are bracing for business to be affected next.

"I travel to train people, so i think the impact for me is going to be if things start getting canceled, if sales meetings and conventions start getting canceled," traveler Tom Parker said.

When it comes to cancellations, several airlines are letting these travelers get out of flights for free or reduced costs. Some people appear to be taking advantage of it.

"It's kind of a quite time, but i have noticed quite a drop in travel, so I'm sure a lot of people are probably not traveling as much," Peterson said.
