DE PERE (NBC 26) — As Northeast Wisconsin heads into a heat wave many might be looking to cool off and possibly even install a new air conditioner unit.
But with so many things back-ordered over the last year how available are they?
"The demand for air conditioners in the area we see obviously with the weather is increasing everyday and going into next week we feel the demand is going to increase steadily,” said Mike Taicher, Robinson Heating & Cooling, Commercial Sales Representative.
Robinson Heating & Coolingbased out of De Pere provides central air for customers.
"More of the residential equipment that we're seeing somewhat of the shortages on are more on the residential end of the business,” Tiacher said.
He said the shortages are due to back orders of certain materials.
"Right now depending on the equipment a person is looking to purchase we can get air conditioners installed within a week and some of it is potentially pushed out to three to four weeks,” Tiacher said.
He goes on to share how this compares to years prior:
"In other years usually it was like a one to two, one to three week turn around. We're a little bigger of a company so usually we could get guys from different jobs and take care of installations a little quicker,” Tiacher said.
And when it comes to the smaller window air conditioning units, we asked the owner of J.D. Appliances how readily available they are right now or what is that market looking like?
"We see every spring when the temperatures starts to rise. It seems like there is an abundance at first, but most places generally sell out of it pretty quickly. Its something you don't generally want to wait around for,” said James Diedrich.
