GREEN BAY, Wis. — Hotel Northland will officially open for business on Valentine's Day, the hotel says in a news release.

The historic hotel will officially open for business Thursday, February 14, at 3 p.m., the hotel’s standard check-in time.

The hotel originally opened in 1924 and operated through the 1960s, serving as residence for players of the Green Bay Packers and housing visiting NFL teams, management says in a news release.

The project to renovate the hotel has faced several challenges. At one point, the hotel was apparently slated to open in 2016.

According to previous NBC26 reports, the hotel's release date was pushed back as the construction project faced different setbacks, including disputes over ownership and financing.

Hotel Northland says it offers 160 guestrooms, 18 of which are suites, as well as a restaurant, the Walnut Room, and a sports bar, Poke the Bear.

The hotel says it also offers 11,000 square feet of meeting space, including a ballroom for events and weddings. Also available for private events is a lower level bar area complete with a two-lane bowling alley.

A search on a booking site for the hotel shows rates for rooms going for about $140.
