APPLETON (NBC 26) — The History Museum at the Castle reopened to the public on Friday, June 18.

"We've done a lot of work in the galleries, on the exhibits and getting those improved, and we also did a lot of collections work, but now we're back to our bread and butter of welcoming people back inside and showing off the history and what we do," said Dustin Mack, the museum's chief curator.

The History Museum, 330 E. College Ave., will be open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through the summer, while group visits that limit the number of visitors at a given time can be scheduled Mondays through Thursdays.

"We're just excited to be able to bring people back and help them," Mack said. "We do this because it's the community's history, and to be able to share that with the community again is really great."

The museum will require visitors to maintain social distance and wash or sanitize their hands frequently, Mack said. Cloth face masks will be optional for visitors who have been vaccinated and required for unvaccinated individuals.

"Public health has been the number one priority for the museum throughout the whole pandemic and we wanted to make sure that the public was safe and our employees and staff as well but with the vaccine widely available and the COVID numbers going down, we feel like we can finally bring people back in," he said.

Admission is $10 for adults, $7.50 for children and free for museum members and children younger than age 5.
