WISCONSIN (NBC 26) — The CBD industry is booming right now.
With Wisconsin farmers able to grow hemp and process it into CBD, they're trying to capitalize on that emerging market. In years to come, the focus for farmers may change. Leaders at the Wisconsin Hemp Alliance said the market could even reach saturation in a few years. However, leaders also believe the plant has a lot more to offer.
“There are so many places to go with hemp that I don’t see this industry getting flooded for quite some time because of the versatility, what we can do, and the different avenues we can go even with this particular plant,” farmer Dan Wiese said.
Leaders at the Wisconsin Hemp Alliance said both fiber and grain will have a major market expansion. Wiese also thinks fiber has a strong future for farmers.
State officials at the plant industry bureau believe the entire hemp market is in it's early stages. If those markets develop like expected, it could be a major boost for Wisconsin agriculture.
