HOWARD (NBC 26) — The Village of Howard broke ground for a new Village Center Pavilion and Public Space, a place where the community can enjoy activities year-round.
Situated east of the Howard Commons apartment complex, the project will feature the Arnold and Gloria Schmidt Pavilion as well as several complimentary amenities.
A splash pad, beer garden, activity center, open-air amphitheater and an open-air pavilion for ice skating in the winter will all be features of the new public space.
The project is being funded through naming rights and TIF #8 revenues by Dan Schmidt, who owns Bay Industries in Green Bay.
“It has always been staff’s goal to make the facility self-sufficient annually and to fund the debt service through naming rights and TIF #8 revenues,” said Village Administrator Paul Evert. “We want Howard residents to be able to fully enjoy this wonderful addition to our community without burdening them as taxpayers.”
Additional roads, roadway and trail extensions, parking stalls and utilities are also part of the project development.
The village hopes the project will be completed by spring or summer of 2023.
