GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — The Mural & Busker Festival is underway in the Broadway District.
The event features street performers, also known as buskers, and muralists creating live artwork on walls throughout the district. Chalk artists are also beautifying the sidewalks.
The On Broadway Inc. event presented by Fox Communities Credit Union continues through Sunday, Aug. 29.
The muralists are beginning their creations and people are invited to come watch the artwork take shape Thursday and Friday.
"This event is really cool because it presents a lot of different types of art and the variety of artists that we have here locally," said artist Jenna Kast. "Every mural is going to be different, and every artist has their own style, so it’s going to be really cool to see that represented as part of one event."
Musicians, jugglers, dancers and other live art performers will from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday as the murals continues to come to life on various walls in the area. There will be bands playing on different ends of Broadway Street.
Some of the buskers include Fox Valley Fire, GB Aerial, Landmermaid, Pantaloon Productions and Monica Giles.
"It’s always fun whenever you get to have a public event art project, and being able to create it with a bunch of other artists at the same time and have live music going on just ads an element of fun to that," Kast said.
