Green Bay Police say resident shot home intruder

GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — Green Bay police officers are investigating a shooting that happened at a home.

Officers responded to Mount Mary Drive for a report of an attempted break-in to a home. While officers were there, a second call came in for a break-in that happened nearby on Laverne Drive.

At the second location, officers learned that there had been a confrontation at the home and that the resident shot the intruder.

When officers arrived, they were able to secure the scene and provide medical aid to the suspect. The suspect received a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body and was transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment. The victim of the break-in is cooperating with officials.

The suspect has been identified as a 31-year-old man from the Green Bay area. Charges for the suspect are expected to be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office once the investigation is complete.
