GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — Update: suspect identified.

--

Our reporter on the scene says he saw a man involved in the armed standoff taken into custody. The standoff happened at the intersection of West Walnut Street and Ashland Avenue near the Kwik Trip building.

The Green Bay Police Department says the suspect is wanted for a "very serious crime" but did not elaborate.

Commander Warych says the suspect lead officers on a high speed chase Sunday morning. He then confirmed officers stopped the suspect by using a pit maneuver.

According to witnesses, the suspect fired about 10 shots at police. Officers say no one was injured.

As police tried to deescalate the situation, they say the suspect sat in the vehicle with a gun to his head. The arrest was made without injury.

The Walnut St. bridge was raised from around 1 p.m. to almost 3 p.m. because of the standoff.

Police said Ashland Ave. and Broadway are both open for vehicle traffic. Walnut St. from Ashland to Broadway is still closed off as investigators continue to process the scene.
