GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- An 18-year-old man is facing charges after police say he tried to use a fake $100 bill at a fast food drive thru.
On Wednesday night, police say officers responded to a call that a man was trying to use a counterfeit bill at a fast food restaurant on the east side of Green Bay. Police said staff at the drive thru knew the bill was counterfeit and were able to stall the driver long enough to contact the Green Bay Police Department and for officers to arrive.
As officers arrived on scene, police said they blocked the suspect vehicle in as it was parked in the drive thru. With the suspect not being able to dive away, officers ordered the suspect out of the vehicle and he was taken into custody. Police said the suspect is an 18-year-old Green Bay resident. He now faces theft/fraud charges.
Police also said they've connected this suspect to another fraud investigation at another east side fast food restaurant, where police said he used another fake $100 bill.
The police department has received 13 complaints of counterfeit money being passed at local businesses in Green Bay since the beginning of the year.
