GREEN BAY (WGBA) -- Streu's pharmacy in Green Bay is seeing more and more people buy masks. Pharmacists think it is linked to fear of the coronavirus.

"Sales have gone up and supplies have gotten shorter," said John Lemke, a pharmacist.

The Surgeon General advised people this week not buy masks, because there wont be enough for medical professions. That is something Lemke fears is happening.

"It definitely causes some concern," Lemke said. "It is not something that should be taken likely but there are precautions we can take."

In Wisconsin, only person has been diagnosed with the Coronavirus. That person has recovered, but others are being tested. Lemke says people should only buy masks if they are sick. If not, he says washing hands is the best way to prevent getting sick.

Wash your hands and wipe off the surfaces you use with a wipe," Lemke said. "We need these masks available for workers or people prone to contracting diseases like coronavirus or other common spreading illnesses."
