GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — Green Bay was one of dozens of cities that participated in the march for women's reproductive rights on Saturday. It joins bigger cities like New York, Washington D.C., and closer to home, Milwaukee. Around 400 participants joined together and marched from Leicht Park to the Brown County Courthouse.

"The goal of this march was to protest overturning the law of Roe v. Wade, and to also show that women deserve their rights--and we wont ever back down," said one of the organizers, Abbey White. "Roe v. Wade is the only law that protects women's rights. This is not only a case of protecting our right to safe abortion, but it is also about protecting us as human beings. The fact is-- we're frustrated! We are tired of having to fight for our rights."

As they walked, they chanted things like 'Get your rosaries off my ovaries!', held signs, cars honked and others who passed by raised their fists in support. Once at the courthouse, Representatives Lee Snodgrass, Kristina Shelton and Sarah Godlewski gave speeches.

"Looking back to see all those people following our lead and looking up to us made me feel immensely powerful," said White. "Our loud voices showing the world we are one strong force is a sound I could never forget."

The work prior to the event was immense, with flyers, handmade shirts, reaching out to representatives and simply getting the word out there. White said the payoff was incredibly worth it, and plans to host more walks in the future.

"Green Bay truly impressed me this Saturday," said White. "The amount of people who came up to me and expressed their gratitude was more than enough to make me feel empowered and capable... If there is anything I have learned from this, it's that anybody can step up. Any single voice can turn into hundreds and into thousands and even millions. You just have to start."
