GREEN BAY (WGBA) -- All week, thousands of volunteers will be coming to put food together for starving children all over the world.

According to non profit Feed My Starving Children, 6,200 children die each day from starvation. This week in Green Bay, volunteers are hoping to lower that number.

"We do something here that globally makes a difference," said Ann Weiss, one of the volunteers. "It is so simple and takes so little time and literally makes a difference globally."

Each bag contains rice, soy and vegetables. Organizers say it is the type of meal that is full of nutrients to help a child who is malnourished.

"There are 20 vitamins and minerals there to really help restore a child's strength and health," said Tim Groff, one of the local organizers.

The filling events are being held through this Thursday. Organizers say the need volunteers Wednesday. If you would like to help, you can visit: https://give.fmsc.org/campaign/1910-066sc-green-bay-wi-green-bay/c230499
