GREEN BAY (WGBA) -- The Green Bay Catholic Diocese issued a dispensation this week for parishioners. People in the catholic diocese do not need to go to mass while the corona virus continues to spread.

"It is is there choice," said Patrick Beno, the priest at St. Agnes church.

Some people did decide to go to church. Those that did saw some changes to limit the spread of germs. A week ago, the diocese forbid the serving of wine during mass, and parishioners are advised to use hand santizer after recieving the wafer.

"We have a lot of home bound that we bring communion to," Beno said. "We are going to give them calls just so they get a visit and prayer that way."

Beno said it is something he has not seen before. He says all they can do now is hope it passes.

"I think this should serve as a reminder to us not to live in a time of fear, but eternal hope," Beno said.
