GREEN BAY (WGBA) -- It was an organization that started nearly 40 years ago. Audrey Olson created the choir group as part of her masters program at UW Green Bay. Now it has helped thousands of young men and women learn music.
"She brought out the best in you," said Michael Hagerty, who was part of that original group. "You wanted to try as hard as you could."
Olson recently passed away at the age of 91. Her legacy, however, moves on.
"We are more than training voices, we are training hearts," said Susan McAllister, the president of the board.
It started as a group of dozens, and now it is made of several age groups. They perform all kinds of musical numbers. The goal is to create a bond between new friends.
"We teach them music, but they also enjoy being around each other," McAllister said. "That was what Audrey wanted."
Olson will have her funeral this weekend. The boys choir will perform her favorite song "Let There be Peace on Earth." It was a song she ended every performance with.
