GREEN BAY (WGBA) -- Just one day after President Trump announced no one should be in groups greater than 10, Governor Tony Evers announced all Wisconsin bars and restaurants should shut down until further notice. Bar owners received the notification this afternoon. All were closed by 5 p.m.

"We need to follow what the government tells us," said Chris Hansen, the owner of the Sardine Can bar. "We have been preparing for this for a while now."

Gov. Evers did not provide a timetable as to when the bars could re-open. Bar owners say that is one of the most difficult parts of the COVID-19 spread - not knowing what each day will bring. Each bar in the city has a sign on their door saying they are closed because of the Coronavirus.

"Our employees and patrons are out highest priority," Hansen said. "This is about safety."

His co-owner Brian Bunkelman said something similar. He says this is about safety and survival.

"We just want to make sure that the world is safe," Bunkelman said. "We know we are not the only bar owners in this predicament. We just have to figure out as a group how we come out of this stronger."
