GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — As they say, sometimes bad things happen to good people. The owner of a well-known bar in Green Bay is in need of a little help after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

"Connie and Pauly are givers... they will give and give and give," said Chris Jarocki, Connie's brother-in-law. "But when the time comes for receiving, you know, you never ask for help. That's the boat that they fall into, so we decided 'we're just going to do this and we'll tell them about it after the fact'."

Connie and Pauly own Pauly G's Tavern in Green Bay. Through financial hardships because of the pandemic, and now cancer treatment, the couple's in-laws wanted to give them a helping hand.

They set up a GoFundMe page with a goal to raise $10,000 to help them through this time.

"People will ask tavern owners for donations for different events and stuff like that. And Pauly's at the front of the line giving what he can. Now, I just feel like it's time for us to pay it back," Jarocki said.

As of Friday morning, they've been able to raise about $3,000.
